In the study, 63 people received money and had been asked to decide how much of the item they wanted to share with a strong anonymous partner.

Researchers used a strategy called "transcranial direct current stimulation,In . which sends weak and also painless electric currents with the skull, to modulate the actual excitability of specific brain regions.
During the experiment, scientists used this technique to increase or lessen neural activity at the front in the brain, in the right outside prefrontal cortex.
When neural activity during this part of the brain was improved via stimulation, the people followed the fairness majority more strongly when supports were threatened, but their purposeful norm compliance in the absence of achievable punishments decreased.
Conversely, when the scientists decreased neural task, participants followed the fairness norm more strongly with a voluntary basis, but complied significantly less with the norm when actions against were threatened.
Moreover, lack of feeling stimulation influenced the participants' behavior, but it did not affect his or her perception of the fairness tradition. It also did not alter his or her expectations about whether and ways in which much they would be penalized for violating the norm.
