By Sharmain GraingerIntense physical pain has proven to be one of the most debilitating things that can happen to any human being. However, once the source of the pain is diagnosed, more often than not, it can be treated and perhaps allow for the complete rejuvenation of many individuals. But this was not the case for Lillawattie Gurdayal, of Canal Number Two Polder, more than two decades ago. Her pains developed when she was around the age of 28.Lillawattie Gurdayal is too blessed to be in distress. She was already married with children when she developed an awful chest pain which caused her to have sleepless nights and very distressing days.Gurdayal, who grew up at Queenstown on the Essequibo Coast, had no history of illness in her younger days. She was the sixth of 10 siblings and lived a healthy and quite modest life with her parents until she got married and moved to Parika, East Bank Essequibo, to start her own family. It was while there that her pain started causing her life to become very difficult.“It was this terrible chest pain all the time and it would move from one part to another all the time,” Gurdayal recounted during an interview. She had no idea what was the source of her pain and several doctors’ visits later she was none the wiser.“Nobody seemed to know what was happening to me it was just pain upon pain, and I went to many ‘bush’ doctors, too, to get help and got none.”Three months into the intense state of affairs, Gurdayal’s husband, who worked sometimes as a carpenter in the interior,NFL Jerseys China, could not bear to see his wife endure the devastating pain, since while he was away there wasn’t much she could have done to help their children. And to compound her pain, Gurdayal was confident that the house her family was living in was haunted.“I used to be scared, especially at nights, because it used to sound like somebody walking around…Even the children used to be scared and scream out because they heard it too.”Recognising the plight of his family, Gurdayal’s husband, who has since departed this life, decided to encourage her to visit a church for prayers. But that wasn’t really seen as an option for her. She was sure that there was some doctor she hadn’t visited as yet that held the key to her overwhelming discomfort. But all she received were prescriptions for pain tablets,Cheap NFL Jerseys, which of course eased the pain for awhile,Wholesale Jerseys Store, but was then followed by what she described as a “blazing”.“Nobody was able to tell me what was causing it and sometimes my whole right or left side would get lifeless…I would have to lie down all the time but couldn’t get no sleep; I would toss and turn in pain.”She eventually came to a point in her life where she started considering her husband’s suggestion. After all,Cheap Jerseys From China, he was a church-goer himself and worked with people who believed that prayers can change things. But Gurdayal’s upbringing certainly did not teach her that.“I never could believe that just prayer can help you. I believed you had to go and get some x–ray, you got to get injection, you got to get some tablets and so on, and so I never could see how going to church could help me,Wholesale NFL Jerseys,” she reflected. And although she would promise her husband to go to church when he was away, each time he sent money she would head straight to a doctor to seek medical attention. No relieve came!So eventually she decided to surrender to what seemed to be the only option left. Her husband had just returned from the interior and she was desperate to find help and so without hesitation he took her to the church situated in an adjoining community called Blake, which was in fact a short distance from their home. She recalled writhing in pain throughout the service but remembers how she and her husband sat in place until the end.“We waited until everybody else had left and the pastor was alone and we went to him and explained what was wrong with me.”The pastor prayed a rather short and simple prayer, Gurdayal said. By the time they arrived home she was sure that she had left something at the church and was desperately trying to recall what belongings she had when she realised that the pain she had left with, was no longer there.“It was the pain missing! I was there thinking to myself something missing because I had gotten so use to the pain…I started to press all over for this pain and there was no kind of pain.”And for the first time in a long time, Gurdayal went to bed and slept soundly through the night. The following day she was only too eager to return to the church to share her good news with the pastor.“I went back to the church and accepted Jesus as my Saviour and eventually the pastor came and ‘pray out’ the house and the sounds all went away,” she disclosed.Unable to contain how her life had drastically changed after a very short prayer,Cheap Jerseys Online, Gurdayal began writing letters to her parents and siblings who were still living on the Essequibo Coast relating what God had done for her. And to her amazement they all wanted to know more and made the bold decision to attend church too. Even one of her sisters who suffered from epilepsy from the age of seven was healed at the age of 30.“She accepted the Lord and it was amazing that her ‘fits’ stopped and many other sicknesses that my family had, God healed,” she confided.Gurdayal has never suffered another painful spell and has since been striving to live a good Christian life since the age of 28. According to her, “I am now 52 and there is no way I am going to turn back; God has done too much for me.” |
