Enfield to face another board with conflicts when she comes to Highline vp

If interim Seattle institutions superintendent Susan Enfield thought she may leave a squabbling school table behind for a harmonious panel in Highline, she may have got wrong.
In an occasionally uncomfortable 90 minute work analyze session on May 3, mediated by a Washington State Classes Directors Association (WSSDA) facilitator, plank members hashed over their differences in leadership style and goals.
The board plans to schedule a three hour study program soon with Enfield and facilitator Phil Gore to go over goals and targets. Enfield's officially takes over as Highline's superintendent in July 1.
Gore told Highline board members that they need to come to one common agreement on how they function as a board.
With just a month to set her leadership fashion, Enfield will need clear direction without mixed signals, Gore cautioned plank members.
Board president Angelica Alvarez needed outside help to mediate conflicts in between board members after mother board member Michael Spear filed a formal complaint against colleague Susan Goding. He accused her regarding violating open meeting wants and being rude to district staff and plank members.
At the May 12 session, Goding said she believed it is a "4 1" board with her is the sole dissenting voice.
The aboard has no shared goals or perhaps vision with each board fellow member doing Timberland Uk their own thing, Goding complained.
The board has not moved on on academics or education goals, she added. Some sort of strategic plan, approved with a previous board, is not currently being followed.
Board member Bernie Dorsey could not agree and pointed to a program wide measure of success licensed by the current board.
He said the actual disagreements stem from a difference in leadership styles. Dorsey said this individual tries to motivate people and also acknowledge successes while Goding might be more confrontational.
But he noted which he believes Goding has the best of motives.
Goding said the board is not asked to vote on everything controversial.
Gore said some school boards set aside time to talk about what board members choose to place on the agenda. Alvarez asserted that in her six months as president, no board members have asked to put something to the agenda. Goding noted she weren't sure the procedure to do that.
