They then somehow got hold of a sling (Cement sling) and used that to scale down their holdings before ripping a hole in the fence and making good their escape.Among the four escapees is Kevin Narine 32 of No7 Village, West Coast Berbice, who is also known as Ram Sookdial, called Long Hair, who was sentenced on Thursday 2nd June to nine years in jail in the Berbice High Court after he was found guilty on a count of robbery under arms.Narine was one of Guyana’s most notorious High Sea’s pirates. He was known as a serious threat to the fishing industry.He had escaped to neighbouring Suriname and French Guiana, where he continued his crime spree.He was nabbed in Suriname and incarcerated for similar crimes and was eventually deported to Guyana.Also among the escapees is Rickford La Fleur, 36, called Rickford Williams or Rickford Sabola, Bragga or Rastaman of Vryheid’s Lust Squatting Area, East Coast Demerara and Smithfield, Canje River, who was on remand on two charges of murder and two charges of trafficking in narcotics. He is accused of the murder of Cleveland Hetmyer called ‘Water Dog who was shot dead reportedly during a confrontation with the suspect and another man some 90 miles up the Canje River on 4th of November 2010. He and four others are also accused of murder committed on Sebastian Cleto on 1st May 2011 at the New Amsterdam Prison. He was arrested a few months ago at the Sheema Gog backtrack crossing at No78 Village, Corentyne.
