MADISON   Catherine (O'Hara) Benkert forwarded to eternal life on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2014. After experiencing the hardship of the Airborne dirt and dust Bowl, the family made their particular way back to a family farm in Iowa. Catherine was a 1937 graduate student of Lansing, Iowa High School. We have spent as a nurse's aide in Rochester, Minn., Catherine received the good fortune of finding a profession with Northwest (Orient) Flight companies, St. Paul, Minn. She at some point landed in Milwaukee where she met the love associated with her life, Harry Benkert. On August 22, 1957, they were hitched at St. Patrick' Church, Brownsvile, Minn.
They had a wonderful life together, experienced their early years in Milwaukee and made their long-term home in Madison. They lovingly raised two daughters. Catherine along with Harry loved to travel, particularly with the girls; from Maine to Hawaii. They enjoyed Bridge along with cherished their time with the Milwaukee "Bridge" group. They enjoyed a Milwaukee Braves, Brewers and the Badgers, morning meal outings and fish frys. Around retirement they traveled to Ireland (more than once), England, and Portugal. Catherine even made it to Rome once more.
Faith, Family and Friends saw these individuals through all the difficult times. The lady graciously made a new start, during 89 years old, when the woman moved to Green Bay to be closer to famiy. She happily called McCormick Memorial Home her residence for five years. She uncovered joy in Bingo, Controls of Fortune, crossword puzzles along with a two story brick construction breakfast outings. Always getting that extra cup of coffee or perhaps glass of Chardonnay, whatever the event called for.
She made the girl final journey back to Madison once again in August, to be all around family. She lived the girl final days in the town she loved.
Through all of life's highs and lows, Catherine maintained the woman grace, humor and sturdy spirit. She held her faith close to her soul. Even when she was fighting at the end she found peacefulness in reciting the Rosary.
The lady was greeted in bliss with a table full of loved ones; into the open arms associated with her beloved Harry, boosting a toast for a daily life well lived. Catherine was a superior and faithful servant.
Catherine is survived by her children, Margaret (Marjorie) Benkert of St. Louis Park your car, Minn., Patricia (Allan) Patek of Madison, and Jim (Janis) Wrich of Madison; her grandchildren, Ryan Benkert, Zeb Patek, Casimir Patek, Mary Wrich, Linda Swanson, Carmen Robertson, Caroline Wrich, and Kelda Lee; as well as a niece and nephews.
She seemed to be preceded in death by means of her parents; her hubby, Harry Benkert; an infant daughter, Ann Benkert; and also her siblings, Frank (Betty) O'Hara, Leo O'Hara, Gene O'Hara, Jim (Margaret) O'Hara, and Mary (Bill) Wilson; in legislation, Harry (Minne) Benkert; and special cousin in law, Mary Benkert.
The household would like to thank St. Mary's Proper care Center, sporcizia Madison, for their kindness and compassion; to McCormick Memorial Dwelling for being her loving dwelling for five years; to Saint. Matthew's Parish, Green Bay; and to Our Lady Queen of Tranquility Catholic Parish, Madison. Memorials in Catherine's name can be made to Our Lady Queen of Peacefulness Catholic Church, St. Matthew's Parish, McCormick Memorial Home, or Catholic Charities Diocese of Madison.
