There's sadness, anxiety, perhaps terror. Some cry, quite a few don't want to leave, some even stay in an area hotel while their son or daughter is at camp, in hopes of staying close by if something goes wrong.
"It takes everything out of you," mentioned Fleming, whose own daughter, Amanda-b, attends the camp. "But you really need to take a deep breath and take steps for yourself."
