| Two ranks are expected to appear in court to answer charges for badly beating the 14-year-old prisoner at the Leonora Police Station last week.Reports reaching this newspaper state that the Director of Public Prosecutions has recommended that charges be laid against the policemen. The expectant charges include assault causing grievous bodily harm.A source within the DPP Chambers told this newspaper that the DPP was outraged at the incident and has totally condemned the vicious act.The 14-year-old was arrested last week Tuesday in connection with the murder of Regional Chairman Ramnauth Bisram.He was detained at the Leonora Police Station, and was allegedly burnt in the genital area by two of the officers. The lad was also denied medical attention and it was only after this newspaper had highlighted the effects of the torture that the lad was taken to the hospital. Yesterday, the Georgetown Public Hospital reported that the teen suffered about five to ten per cent superficial burns to the lower abdomen and anterior thighs and penis.A hospital spokesperson said that he was resting comfortably, yesterday, and recovering from his wounds, which are expected to heal fully.One doctor said that he should not suffer any deficit in the use of his limbs and his penis.Another suspect Deonarine Raffi 28,Jean-Christophe Bahebeck Jersey, of Canal Number Two was charged on Friday last, for the murder of Bisram. He is being represented by Senior Counsel Bernard De Santos and Pamela De Santos. The lawyers were all denied access to their client.Both lawyers told the court that Raffi was badly beaten by the police to confess to something that he didn’t do.Bisram, of 11 Canal Number Two, North Section,Chelsea Jersey, was found lying in a pool of blood in a bedroom shortly after 16:00 hrs on Monday.The former Vice Chairman of Region Three was stabbed some 30 times by his killers.Police sources had told this newspaper that a friend, who was a frequent visitor to Bisram’s home, told investigators that Bisram had opened his door after he,John Obi Mikel Jersey, the friend,Christian Pulisic Dortmund Jersey, had rapped.It is alleged that as soon as the door was opened, the friend and his accomplices, with robbery as their motive, entered the house and pounced on their victim,Rafinha Barcelona Jersey, stabbing him several times. Bisram’s brother-in-law and father-in-law were also held in connection with the murder but they were released on station bail.Meanwhile, As police continue their internal investigation as to how this publication got the photograph of the tortured teen, two ranks so far from the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station have been transferred.This newspaper was told that shortly after the photo of the teen, with his genital area burnt, reportedly by police ranks was published,Samir Nasri Jersey, two females ranks were transferred out of the division.Sources say one of the ranks has since been sent to the Brickdam Police Station and another who is said to be a Special Constable sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs. Reports are that after the teen was taken to the Vreed-en-Hoop station and handed over to the same two ranks who were said to be on duty at the time.Having seen his condition the ranks informed the Officer in Charge of Crime in that Division, but they were assured that arrangements are being put in place to have the teen treated. This newspaper has since been informed that after the ranks contacted a senior officer they were informed that the Police doctor would examine the child.A source added that on the directive of a senior officer the child was seen by a ‘police doctor’.The doctor, this newspaper was told visited the teen on Thursday afternoon and merely recommended medication for the child.However sources say that the ranks’ transfer may have come about since it is believed that they may have facilitated this newspaper with acquiring the photograph of the teen. |
